Code of Conduct

Expedition: Endless Wilds is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and immersive environment where all members can safely enjoy collaborative storytelling and LARP experiences.

All players are responsible for upholding the code of conduct with themselves and each other and helping to keep our environment and community safe.

Combat:

All players are expected to enter LARP encounters with the intent to build collaboratively. They should approach the system with the intent to follow the spirit as well as the letter of the rules.

Combat should always prioritize mutual enjoyment, safety, and narrative engagement for all participants. The head, groin, hands, and feet are all illegal target areas and must be actively avoided. Prohibited behavior in combat includes but is not limited to:

Our combat-light system is designed to be welcoming to newcomers and players of all experience levels, and players are expected to hold up and maintain that spirit in the use of said system.

Players should always prioritize the safety of themselves and others on the field of combat.

Roleplay and Respect:

Players are asked to be considerate of harmful fantasy tropes when building their character and interacting in roleplay. Avoid common fantasy tropes and stereotypes that could be attributed to real world minority groups and take care with costuming. Roleplay that reinforces ideas like certain groups being inherently “good” or “evil/violent” is not welcome, as these tropes often reflect real-world prejudices (eg. “High Elves are good, while Dark Elves are evil”). Costumes should not replicate real-world cultural attire in a way that could be perceived as appropriation or stereotype. For example, broader fantasy traits like "all dwarves love crafting" are fine, but "all orcs are savages" or "Dark Elves are inherently evil" are not. Attire like indigenous headdresses and especially blackface drow are never acceptable.

Roleplay should be constructive and collaborative with the intent to elevate all players involved. It should not be retaliatory against other players, done in a way that makes others uncomfortable, or used to force others to engage with the player. If a player or event organizer says no, that is a firm boundary that needs to be respected. This includes but is not limited to physical contact (hugs, casual touch), photos and videos, and verbal interactions. Respect also extends to out-of-game interactions and following the guidelines for PvP interaction outlined in the Core Rules.

Players must respect the venues we use to facilitate our events. There will also be no destruction of property (personal or venue), littering, or other negative effects on the areas we use as a result of us being there.

Players are also expected to treat themselves with respect. We are a LARP, and this often comes with fighting and drinking. However, players are expected to understand their limits and to pace themselves, understanding their own mental and physical capacity when partaking in combat or roleplay. You are responsible for you.

Harassment and Discrimination:

Expedition: Endless Wilds is a LARP founded on inclusivity by a diverse team. We are committed to providing an environment for our members that is free from discrimination, harassment, retaliation and/or sexual assault/harassment. Discrimination or harassment based on (but not limited to) race, gender and/or gender identity or expression, color, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, veteran or military status, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, genetic information, marital status, citizenship status, age, or on any other legally prohibited basis is unlawful and undermines the character and community of the LARP. Members violating these rules may be expelled from the event at the discretion of the organizers and may incur additional sanctions from the Board of Directors.

Harassment can take many forms. It may be, but is not limited to, the following:

Harassment does not have to be sexual in nature. Sexual assault/harassment may include, but is not limited to, the following:

Harassment can also extend into the digital space, including but not limited to:

The Club’s Code of Conduct applies equally in all online spaces, including Discord, Facebook, and any affiliated platforms.

It is not the intent of the behavior by the offender that determines if harassment has occurred but whether the behavior is welcome by the receiver.

If a player becomes aware of an incident of harassment, whether by witnessing the incident or being told of it, they must report it to a member acting as a club official (meaning a Board Member or an event organizer). To ensure the safety of the community, any event organizer is obligated to report this to a Board Member and the Board of Directors is obligated to take prompt and appropriate action.

Any member who believes that they have suffered harassment, if they are able to do so without conflict or danger, tell the harasser as clearly as possible that the behavior is unwelcome. If they are unable to do so and/or the behavior continues, they should report the problem immediately (with as much detail as possible) to a Board Member or event organizer.

Note: Players always retain the right to contact local authorities if they believe a crime has occurred. The Club’s internal policies, while in place to promote a safe environment, are not a substitute for legal recourse.

Reporting and Response:

Expedition: Endless Wilds, including all persons to whom a violation of this Harassment Policy has been reported and persons who have become aware of a complaint, must maintain confidentiality, to the extent possible given the need to investigate. All complaints shall be considered confidential to the maximum extent possible. The Board will investigate and respond to all complaints within 30 days. Anonymous reporting methods will be honored to the extent they allow the Board to investigate and protect community members. Temporary suspensions may be deemed necessary and be placed during an investigation of a report, subject to the judgement of the Board.

No member of the club may retaliate against any victim, witness, or reporter of an alleged violation of the Harassment Policy. All disciplinary actions will follow procedures outlined in the Club’s Bylaws, Article VI and VIII.

Misuse of Policy:

Any attempt to misuse or “weaponize” a club policy for their own benefit or to be wielded against another club member will not be tolerated. This is a grave undermining of the spirit and intent of the rules, takes advantage of rules intended to keep players safe, and jeopardizes the integrity of systems intended for maintaining a safe environment for our players. Any person found to have acted in such a manner will be held highly accountable for their actions, up to removal from the club.

Consequences for Breaking the Code of Conduct:

The severity of each case will be considered and applied to the situation. Depending on the degree of such, one or more of the following consequences will be applied:

Discussion with the Board of Directors: If an issue arises, an individual may be asked to have a private conversation with the game creators to discuss the behavior that has arisen. This also comes with the expectation that the individual will address the situation and work to endeavor that there are no further incidents.

Official letter of warning: With the appropriate severity or repetition of issues, the LARP will issue an official letter to the individual, warning them of the incidents where they have broken the code of conduct and that they need to prevent future incidents from occurring.

Temporary pause of membership: An individual may be temporarily disinvited from events and told they can return after a short period of time. While this can be viewed as a punishment, this is intended as a time for breathing room, and for the individual to take time to reflect on their actions and how they can endeavor to prevent such issues in the future.

Permanent disinvitation: If there is no change in behavior or the offense is egregious enough, the individual’s invitation to play will be revoked and they will no longer be allowed to purchase a ticket or attend the LARP’s events.
