Academic Skills

Potion Crafter

Cost: 1

Phys Rep: Sealed bottle or vial with a non-purple liquid labeled with [Type]: [Effect]

Uses: 2 potions/event

Limitations: Potions expire after every event, potions cannot be purple

Can craft two potions per event. When a potion is used, remove the tag.

Potion Type Effect
Firebelly Tonic The drinker can safely hold hot objects or walk barefoot over coals for 10 minutes. Grants immunity to environmental heat, but not flame damage.
Glowbrew The drinker glows faintly for 10 minutes. Useful in darkness or for roleplay flair. Can be seen from far away, even through magical darkness.
Featherstep Elixir The drinker's footsteps make no sound for 5 minutes. Does not suppress voice or gear sounds.
Laughing Draught The drinker bursts into involuntary laughter for 30 seconds. No combat allowed during this time. Can be used defensively or disruptively.
Potion of Minor Mending The drinker may restore one piece of mundane gear (a torn cloak, broken strap, snapped arrow). RP required.
Scent of the Stag For 10 minutes, the drinker smells like a wild animal to scent-based trackers. Confuses beasts and scent-based magic.
Shadeberry Extract Eyes adjust instantly to low-light conditions for 10 minutes. Cannot be used in full darkness or bright light.
Hiccup Hex The drinker gains no effect, but hiccups uncontrollably for 1 minute. A prank potion or disguised trap.
Bitterroot Brew Grants the ability to stomach poisonous-tasting things. The next food or potion consumed won’t cause nausea or RP vomiting.
Bark Skin Grants the drinker one floating hit point (1 AP)
Swiftfin Potion Grants the drinker the ability to swim swiftly in water, even when wearing armor.

Mystic Clerk

Uses: 1 scroll point/event

If a player has this skill and can cast a spell, they can create a scroll of that spell. The number of words must be equivalent to that of the base spell, but it can be read and cast by anyone holding the item. The player can now write up to one skill point worth of scrolls containing spells they know. The player may create the scroll prior to the event, and it disintegrate after the event ends. Spell scroll spells have a max duration of 4 hours or the natural duration of the spell, whichever comes first.

Infused Ink

Cost: 2

Prerequisites: Mystic Clerk

Creating a scroll after acquiring this skill reduces the required wordcount for any given spell by 5.

Legend Lore

Cost: 2

Phys Rep: Roleplay with tools

Uses: May only be used up to 5x/day

Lets the player as organizers or mod runners a question about something.

Diverse Distillations

Cost: 3

Prerequisites: Potion Crafter

Upon taking this skill, the player expands the possible types of potions they can create to those on the table below.

Potion Type Effect
Comprehend Languages For 10 minutes, the drinker can understand any spoken language. (GM/Marshal may need to relay or translate messages where applicable.)
Speak with Animals For 10 minutes, the drinker can communicate with animals. Requires staff/Marshal support or pre-written cues depending on setting.
Liquid Courage Negates one instance of fear within the next 10 minutes, or until incapacitated.
Potion of Honesty For 1 minute, the drinker must answer questions truthfully if they choose to speak. They are not compelled to talk, but must tell the truth if they do. Roleplay required.
Vial of Acid Can be used to melt one lock. If imbibed, drinker hallucinates for 10 minutes.
Water Breathing Drinker can breathe underwater for 1 minute.

Scribe of Magic

Cost: 3

Prerequisites: Mystic Clerk

Uses: 3 scrolls points/event

The player can now write up to three skill points worth of scrolls containing spells they know. They must be able to cast the spell they wish to transcribe and the number of words must be equivalent to that of the base spell. The player may create the scrolls prior to the event, and they disintegrate after the event ends.

Binding Bureaucracy

Cost: 3

Phys Rep: A wax seal or stamp

Limitations: All parties involved must be in agreement for the document to be binding

The player can now create magically binding in-game documents. With at least one minute of roleplay, they can now write, sign, or notarize documents to be magically binding. No individual in the contracts may break the verbiage of the writing (though they can certainly roleplay trying!)

These documents can only be altered with the Forgery skill.

Making Many

Cost: 4

Phys Rep: No requirements beyond standard potion phys reps

Prerequisites: Potion Crafter

Limitations: Potions expire after each event, potions cannot be purple

Player can now craft an additional potion per event.

Preternatural Parchment

Cost: 4

Prerequisites: Infused Ink

Creating a scroll after acquiring this skill reduces the required wordcount for any given spell by 15.

Ritualist

Cost: 4

Phys Rep: Roleplay with tools

Prerequisites: Legend Lore

Uses: 5x/day

The player gains access to the guild’s Book of Rituals and may lead or participate in ritual magic. Rituals are powerful, structured magical workings that require extended incantation, physical components, and cooperation. Each ritual’s specific effects, prerequisites, and phys reps are listed on its individual page.

Phenomenal Philter

Cost: 5

Prerequisites: Diverse Distillations

Uses: 1 advanced potion/event

Limitations: Potions expire after every event, potions cannot be purple

The player can now create advanced potions, listed on the table below.

Regardless of the number of potions a player can craft per event, only one can be at this efficacy.

Potion Type Effect
Potion of Uncanny Keenness For 1 minute or until incapacitated, the drinker ignores resistances (e.g., werewolves take full damage even from non-silvered weapons). This supersedes similar effects, such as those granted by the Skeleton Potion.
Skeleton Potion For 10 minutes or until incapacitated, the drinker becomes immune to piercing damage. Roleplay includes exaggerated bony movements and sound effects (clacking, creaking).
Potion of Unbounded Freedom The drinker ignores speed/mobility reductions (e.g., Entangle) for 10 minutes or until incapacitated. Does not affect complete immobilization effects (e.g., Bound).
Potion of Martial Skill Grants Armored Fighter and Shield Usage for 10 minutes if the drinker lacks those skills. No effect if the drinker already has both.
Potion of Potential Grants one additional use of any one skill the drinker already possesses. Limit: one Potion of Potential per day.
Spell Breaker’s Draught Immediately removes one magical effect currently affecting the drinker.
Potion of the Horrific Visage For the next 10 minutes, the drinker may induce one instance of fear in another character for 10 seconds.
Potion of Forgetfulness Upon drinking, the user forgets the past 10 minutes. Memory loss should be roleplayed. May not be effective against players who received key mechanical effects (GM discretion).

Arcane Scrivener

Immune Inscryptions
